Top quality
audio for multimedia work
There are some sites that allow
schools to download professionally recorded music for use in multimedia
publications such as PowerPoints, digital movies, podcasts etc.
www.freeplaymusic.com
Free for internal use at school, but you may have to pay a
license fee if you publish.
www.magnatune.com
Very interesting site. Actually a record
label, but you can download their music for free and include it in
videos and podcasts.
www.archive.org A very useful
source of audio, often published under Creative Commons licensing (see
below). Also very useful to be able to upload video and audio that
you’ve made for archive purposes – then it doesn’t take up valuable
space and bandwidth on your website.
www.audiolicense.net If
you have an LEA broadband network, you can download the music off this
site for free. Not quite as quick and easy as Magnatune, but a very
useful source of sound effects as well as music.
www.creativecommons.org
As well as providing links to loads of web resources, this site
allows you to license your own work under a Creative Commons License.
This will give you some legal protection from people copying your
school videos etc. More importantly, it requires people to credit the
author if the material is used.

Photos
for multimedia work
This site is a great resource for putting
together interactive
whiteboard pages, PowerPoints, etc. Freefoto.com has an easy search by category feature
and a vast array of photographs to choose from. It's free for schools
to use.
Free
sound effects
Finding
decent sound effects can be time-consuming. This site
allows schools to use their resources for nothing.
